With CARBOCALCIUM, the entire calcium and carbonate hardness requirements of a typical reef aquarium can be covered with a single solution, without unwanted additional compounds or excess carbonic acid. Due to the growth of organisms and other processes in the aquarium, minerals are consumed and must therefore be replenished regularly. These include above all calcium as well as carbonate hardness formers for the growth of the calcareous skeletons of hard corals, red algae and other reef organisms. Tropic Marin® CARBOCALCIUM avoids all the side effects of other methods of lime hardening: the pH value remains stable; there is no excess of CO2 and there is no danger of introducing undesirable phosphates via coral breakage. Furthermore, there is neither a creeping increase in salinity nor an increased oxygen consumption by carbon compounds.
