TM GH test (total hardness)

For the determination of the total hardness in freshwater aquariums The total hardness GH describes the amount of salts dissolved in water. If the amount of these salts is small, we speak of soft water, and if the amount is larger, we speak of hard water. The value is usually given in degrees of German hardness (°dH), where 1 °dH is equated with 10 mg per litre of dissolved calcium oxide. The concentration of these salts in the water influences the organic functions of fish and plants and should therefore be checked regularly. The optimum value for total hardness depends on the species of fish. A hardness of 3-10 °dH is considered favourable in freshwater aquariums. The Tropic Marin® GH test allows a quick and accurate control of the total hardness of the aquarium water. The handling is easy due to the use of only one reagent solution with high sensitivity of the determination. The test reagent is extremely economical and is sufficient for about 100 applications.
