Product information "TM pH test sea water"
For the determination of the pH-value in saltwater aquariums The pH value or "acidity" indicates how acidic or basic (alkaline) a water is. Pure water reacts neutrally and has a pH value of 7. If the acidic components predominate, the pH value decreases (pH < 7), if the basic components predominate, the pH value increases (pH > 7). Many organisms react extremely sensitively to strong fluctuations in the pH value. In seawater aquaristics the optimal pH-value is between 8.0 and 8.5, as in the oceans. Strong fluctuations as well as a too strong decrease or increase of the pH-value should be avoided at all costs and the acidity level in the tank should therefore be checked regularly. With the Tropic Marin® pH-Test the pH value can be determined quickly and precisely. Specially designed for seawater, the pH reagent allows you to control the pH by means of a finely tuned color scale that shows a range of 7.4-9.4 pH units.
