TM PO4 Test

For the determination of the phosphate concentration Phosphates (PO43-) are important nutrients for all plants and are irreplaceable for the energy metabolism of every living cell. Phosphates enter the aquarium water through feed and decomposition processes of organic matter. However, an uncontrolled increase in the phosphate content creates problems, such as strong algae growth. In addition, phosphates in saltwater aquariums can greatly impede the excretion of calcium carbonate to build up the calcareous skeleton of hard corals and thus hinder their growth. On the other hand, phosphate can also become a deficiency element in aquariums with a high plant or coral population and a low fish population, which must be dosed. With the Tropic Marin® PO4 test, the phosphate concentration can be determined accurately using a color scale in the range of 0.03 to 3 mg/l.
